It appears that the structure envelops a wholly paradoxical object or element... It is obvious that this object is eminently symbolic, but we say "eminently" because it belongs to no series in particular...Such an object is always present in the corresponding series, it traverses them and moves with them, it never ceases to circulate in them, and from one to the other, with an extraordinary agility. One might say that it is its own metaphor, and its own metonymy.

Sixth Criterion: The Empty Square
Empty Square is a newborn non-profit organization focusing on large scale photography projects, art projects and films. Our team searches the tangle between contemporary art and digital technology not only in the field of mediums and forms but also on the field of referents. The new Media are becoming the subjects of contemporary artworks.
Our name derives from the term of French post-structuralist philosopher Gilles Deleuze. The Empty Square is the true representation of the substrate, it is an item that has no meaning but allows all other signifiers to receive their signified.
We also deal with contemporary issues in the field of art theory and curatorship, searching and developing speech and text for projects that stand on the edge of re-modernity.
